The Passionists in Haiti

In the Caribbean nation of Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, Fr. Richard Frechette, C.P., a Passionist priest and doctor, works tirelessly for the impoverished and neglected especially children in a violent and often hopeless country.

From the time he was a seminarian, Fr. Rick Frechette wanted to work with the poor: As a priest in Honduras, he led the building of an orphanage; in Haiti, he built a hospital. However, watching women and children die because medical care was scarce was too much for the young priest, so Fr. Rick asked permission to pursue a medical degree. He achieved his goal and today he works with an indomitable spirit in Haiti to serve the people be loves, the poorest of the poor.
