Are Passionists still in the business of preaching parish missions and retreats? According to Fr. Stephen Haslach, C.P., Director of Passionist Preaching Apostolate, the answer is a resounding “Yes!”
Paragraph 70 of our Passionist Constitutions reads in part, “Among the many Apostolates sanctioned by our Constitutions, the preaching of parish missions and spiritual exercises remains our special and central activity.”
In the past six months the Preaching Band of St. Paul of the Cross Province has fulfilled the following preaching assignments:
Parish Missions: 41
Priest’s Retreats: 3
Sister’s Retreats: 7
Sister’s Retreat Days: 3
Weekend Retreats: 2
Holy Week Retreat: 1
The Passionist Preaching Band is committed to preaching Parish Missions, Renewals and Novenas. We also preach lay and religious retreats. Parish preaching events are appropriate any time of the year and can be tailored to a Parish needs. The fall of the year as well as Advent and Lent are all very good times.
With the world and the Church undergoing anguish and suffering, now is an especially good time for a Passionist Mission. Passionists see the face of Jesus in those who suffer. Those who are troubled, hurting or seeking will find in the Passionist a listening ear, an understanding word and a compassionate heart.
