We Preach Christ Crucified

Are Passionists still in the business of preaching parish missions and retreats? According to Fr. Stephen Haslach, C.P., Director of Passionist Preaching Apostolate, the answer is a resounding “Yes!”

Paragraph 70 of our Passionist Constitutions reads in part, “Among the many Apostolates sanctioned by our Constitutions, the preaching of parish missions and spiritual exercises remains our special and central activity.”

In the past six months the Preaching Band of St. Paul of the Cross Province has fulfilled the following preaching assignments:

Parish Missions: 41
Priest’s Retreats: 3
Sister’s Retreats: 7
Sister’s Retreat Days: 3
Weekend Retreats: 2
Holy Week Retreat: 1

The Passionist Preaching Band is committed to preaching Parish Missions, Renewals and Novenas. We also preach lay and religious retreats. Parish preaching events are appropriate any time of the year and can be tailored to a Parish needs. The fall of the year as well as Advent and Lent are all very good times.

With the world and the Church undergoing anguish and suffering, now is an especially good time for a Passionist Mission. Passionists see the face of Jesus in those who suffer. Those who are troubled, hurting or seeking will find in the Passionist a listening ear, an understanding word and a compassionate heart.

All Souls Novena

Please let us pray for those you love beginning November 2nd!

Dear Friends,

It hurts to lose a loved one.  Our love for them continues.  How can we best honor and remember them?

The Feast of All Souls is a special day to remember our departed loved ones and to celebrate our hope of eternal life – a hope made real for us in Christ’s death and resurrection.  On All Souls’ Day, the Church invites us to pray for our beloved deceased.  It’s not a day to mourn, but rather a day to reflect on the passion of Jesus Christ and give thanks for His gift of abundant, eternal life!

During the month of November, I want to remember your loved ones during the Passionists’ All Souls’ Novena of Masses.

I invite you to please enter the names of deceased loved one you wish the Passionists to remember in prayer in the space provided on out Secure Card Credit Donation Form or by contacting us by phone or mail.  The names will be placed on our altar in St. Michael’s Chapel in Union City, New Jersey.

We will pray for your loved ones throughout the day on All Souls’ Day, November 2, and each and every time our priest and brothers gather to pray and celebrate Mass throughout the month of November.

As we join together to remember the deceased, you can also remember the suffering and the needy served by our Passionist missions.

The Passionists are dedicated to bringing the joy of abundant life in Christ to the needy, the poor and the suffering of our world.  We sponsor ministries and missions in more than 50 countries.

Your prayers and gifts sustain us.  Our work is only possible because of faithful and generous friends like you.

As you remember your loved ones who now share fully the life and joy of Christ and His Father, I ask you also to consider a special gift to help children and families served by Passionist Missionaries.  Please give, as you are able.  Your gift will help us share the joy and life of Christ with the poor and needy around the globe.

What a wonderful and profound way to remember loved ones who have died!  And what an amazing blessing your generosity will bring to men, women and children living in extreme poverty who depend on Passionist Missionaries!

Please take a moment now to submit the name of loved one you would like the Passionists to remember in prayer during our All Souls Novena along with your special gift.  The Passionists deeply appreciate the sacred opportunity to join with you in praying for those who now experience intimately and fully the life and joy Jesus promises!

Remember in quiet moments each day during November to join with the Passionists in prayer to honor your loved ones.

Thank you for your kindness, your faithfulness and your friendship!  Your gifts and prayers help the Passionists in bringing the compassion of Christ to our suffering world.

Remembering Christ’s passion,
Fr. Robert Joerger, C.P.
