The Most Holy Name of Mary
But the one who listens and does not act is like a person who built a house on the ground without a foundation.
- Luke 6:49
The house that my wife and I currently live in was built without a foundation. It was the 1950s, and the local Boy Scouts of America council decided to establish a camp in the area. Several cabins were built, and, after about 20 years, the camp moved to another location. The road into camp became a street, and, one by one, the cabins were slowly transformed into residences. Our house was raised up and a full basement was built underneath. Many renovations and additions, made over the course of several years, have allowed our once little cabin to become a suitable home.
The care of our own soul can be similar. Throughout our entire lives, we are undergoing renovation. Unfortunately, we are all sinful at times. But if we have a solid faith foundation, and if we listen to the words of Jesus and act upon them, then we will be allowing ourselves, even if slowly, to be transformed.
