Fr. James Price, C.P.

2nd Consultor

Fr. James Price, C.P.  is originally from Carbondale, PA.  He joined the Passionists in 1983, professed his first vows in 1989, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1994.  

Fr. Jim served as Parochial Vicar of Immaculate Conception Monastery Parish, Jamaica, NY until 1997.  He then served as Province Vocation Director for three years from 1997 to 2000. Subsequently, Fr. Jim functioned as Director of the Bishop Molloy Passionist Retreat House, Jamaica, NY from 2000-2006. This was at a pivotal time in the Retreat House’s history where he oversaw a successful Capital Campaign for renovations and updates to the building.

In 2006 Fr. Jim was elected the First Provincial Consultor, Province of St. Paul of the Cross (Eastern Province) of the Passionists and served in that office until May 2010.  Directly thereafter, he became Rector of St. Ann’s Monastery and Shrine Basilica, in Scranton, PA from 2010-2013.  Fr. Jim then served in the Passionist missions in Jamaica, West Indies for two years.

Returning home to the US, he recently led his home parish of St. Rose of Lima and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Carbondale, PA as Pastor from 2016-2020. Fr. Jim now resides at the Immaculate Conception Monastery in Jamaica, NY, working full time on the Provincial Council and overseeing the new Thomas Berry Place project, focusing on the development of retreats.
